We would like to thank everyone who has helped with getting Brett's health issues noticed.

Update January, 2008

medication.

Update July 12, 2007
Mom was notified that Brett was taken to the medical center in Columbus this morning for  further testing related to his
heart problems. We have since found out that this transport did not happen. We will include more information as we
receive it.

Update June 28, 2007 (Email I Got From Mom)

About Brett...The Cardiologist at the medical center in Columbus called to have Brett transported down to the medical
center so one has to assume that his EKG printout was not hunkey-dorey.  Brett says it's like having an exam and tests
and the doc calls you and says I don't want to discuss this over the phone, it is better you come into the office.  It would
seem logical that they want to run more tests which OSP does not have the sophisticated equipment for.

Also, they have put him on LISINOPRIL.  Supposedly it is supposed to be the one medication that works for the high
blood pressure but does not slow down the heart rate.....HOWEVER...when I researched this..and, of course I am just a
novice in this electronic wizardry..I did find where it said "slows the heart beat and relaxes the blood vessels.  Also, may
impair thinking and reactions...side effects could include vomiting, diarrhea, heavy sweating causing dehydration...can
lead to VERY LOW BLOOD PRESSURE...electrolyte disorders, or kidney failure.  Then the overdose symptoms ... dizzy,
lightheaded or fainting.

Now doesn't this make you feel secure in the knowledge that they know what the hell they are doing particularly since,
while I was speaking to him he had already been feeling lightheaded and a little dizzy.  But we all know that the body
does take time to adjust to new medications so I will not panic yet....Now, when is he being transported?  Once again we
will be in the dark until it actually has happened.  My question is, since the cardiologist at the medical center said send
him down,,,will it happen sooner or later, and since they are the ones that set the appointments I would think sooner...but
just about the time I think..things change.

Update June 24, 2007

The prison has done a 24 hour EKG test on Brett.
We don't have his heart rate from this testing time, but we do have his blood pressure.
The results were as follows;
146/100
158/102
138/90
She says that these results will now be sent to the Medical Center, but wasn't sure what will happen from there as they
are the ones who do the scheduling of further testing. (This would be the cardio testing that OSP has written orders for).
Brett has not chosen not to go to the hole, but she did not mention the reason.
She would like me to thank everyone, as do I, for their help.
I am positive your help has made a difference!
Diane

Update  June 21, 2007

Spoke with Mom this morning. She had a call from Brett last night and as of today there is no news on the health issue.
Nor has she received any responses to her calls.

The only new item to mention is that the section of the prison that Brett is housed in has no working air conditioning
system. From what Mom described,  their area is very hot and now humid, adding further stress to his body. They are not
able to take showers to cool off as all water is pre-regulated to be hot, not adjustable.

Brett has chosen to go to the Hole for relief. Mom said this will not affect his being transported for medical as this was at
his request and not a disciplinary action.

Brett Hartmann health issue, please pass on this information.

Brett has been having heart related health issues.

Brett's father passed from similar causes at an early age, so this is a valid concern.

Brett is supposed to go for Cardio Vascular testing to the Ohio State Medical Testing Center, but has as yet to be
transported for this needed medical care.

Week before last his heart rate dropped to 44. When we asked for an outside opinion on this we were told, "it is a level to
indicate a certain element of urgency".

We understand that because of security reasons they will not provide us with a when, but we urge you to help by making
it known that we are aware that he is not receiving appropriate care. They may give you the comment that they were
unaware or that they can not give out any information, but please persist.
